dj support by doc martin, luke solomon, rob mello, anthony collins, sebo k., raresh, matthias kaden! the latest cut from the house of horizontal comes courtesy of head seamstress herself dinky. it comes as no surprise then that æpaquitaÆ û our eponymous a-side heroine û dances as well as she dresses. with unabashed bounce in the bass, a hip-shaking kick and impassioned vocal hook, the track issues funk and soul in abundance as it makes headway towards sumptuous stabs of a delectably old-school flavour. matthew styles weaves his thread through proceedings to tailor a revamp of æpaquitaÆ in deftly-cut club couture. elements of dub bubble over a relentlessly driven beat in what is a typically cool and candid offering from the horizontal stalwart.

here we have a double a-side 12-inch, with an intriguing new development of the secondo sound. still banging, still aimed at the club but with a sense of maturity and laid-backness, that the previous secondo material for dreck records might not have been centred around. the whole outlook has become more house orientated and we are very excited about this new mixture of the secondo splice-funk with the steadiness of early 90s house generating its own idiosyncratic sound. on the a-side, i think im gonna likeestablishes the housey mood of the 12straight off. a brief vocal sample is dotted over a relaxed rhythm until a break mid-track introduces the second half to its full extent and bloom. ædoktor panglosson the b-side continues with the mid-tempo flavour set out by the aside and is defined by a steady build up towards a disco sample beautifully placed towards the end of the track, where a heavy bass line cuts short the euphoria of disco strings. the sampling and references in both tracks have been pushed to the background and mentioning any of them would not do this exciting new material any justice. its all fresh!

maybe >grandfathers clock< is the most house influenced release from the german duo piemont so far. going more deep dirty and housy this time... they turn towards a more relaxed and slack approach. chopping up bits of vocals and sounds, tight and funky, this is what piemont is all about. >running mirror< refers to giorgio moroder respectively hi energy influences and is a hypnotic cool groove monster that will convert spaces into soulful places. frederic and christian have released a good dozen of records now and have been very successful. with >peak time tracks< such as >carbonat< being played by the whole lot of ibiza djs and big names around the world. >running mirror< definitely manifests a turning point in their musical spectrum... to deeper grounds of electronic dance and will get other djs involved in their manifold world of music.

might niko schwind be the new kingpin of house music? everybody needs to find out for himself of course and that is best done when listening to his freshest output for stil vor talent: the “midnightfunk” ep. it kicks off with the title track that features the great chicagoeske vocal skills of patrick blasa, who takes us in on this journey towards a time when house music ruled the waves of the club oceans. imagine a sticky slap bass, cowbells, high-pitched vocals and low-pitched male laughing plus of course the greatest thing about this scorcher: a somewhat jetlagged piano that seems to leap behind in one moment to then be right there again when it matters. ace!

ltd 2010 repress !!! marco carolas string of recent releases on plus8 and his own 2m imprint are now effortlessly hurtling forward under the weight of their own momentum and the bloody cash ep shows no sign of relenting. in fact if its possible, this collection of four new combustible tunes adds another dimension to his already substantial repertoire. on the title track bloody cash, carola immediately shows his intent, letting fly with a spiraling tribal groove full of bright, crisp percussive elements that stretch skywards towards the sun. the tough, earthy beats keep everything rooted to the ground as he taps into some age-old hedonistic urge, creating a universal groove that rolls out across the oceans before breaking on the shores of each continent with an all encompassing call to dance. the main body of the track incorporates a straight synth stab doused in reverb that sets the scene for the finely crafted main keyboard riff, which is an accomplishment in itself. alternating between two complimentary parts, it elevates the backing track to another level. perfectly balanced and enhanced for maximum danceability, its without doubt one of carolas finest works to date

>the last time...< is the new ep from the much respected miami artist, gosub. expanding on the electrofunk experiments from his previous releases, these tracks are a sleazy stab at predicting funks future. the intro track, >the broadcast<, appears in instrumental form on the vinyl, and sets the tone for the ep with its laid back slide.

well ok, no rule without exception... this beautiful joint from johannes albert is a little web 2.0 fairy-tail: the white rookie & cratedigga no. 1 moomin found a youtube clip of a dj hammering a super-deep, rough piano track in a club in the german city of paderborn. he didnt know the track, so he sent the dj a mail asking and a few mails later, the tracks from johannes were blowing away mr. offermanns ears. so the labelhead decided to make this the next white. of course first of all johannes & oskar had to meet a few times to make sure they understand each others vision well and after a few meetings they eventually became friends. so the labels movement towards the direction of house is continued by this release. wooden pearls is pure housemusic to the core. very wooden & grounded in the lower spectrum and crystal clear up in the sky. these very honest and timeless tracks tell us a story. the story of johannes alberts passion for house. since he was 15 years old, he is a fan. from the german franconia he follows house throu his local recordstore >swing king<

the spaniard manuel fernandez llorente had a classical musical upbringing, studying at the music conservatorium in madrid. he has been composing and producing electronic music since 1996, not only releasing on his own label >7noise< but more importantly also being licensed for various major compilations. now he is releasing his first tracks on highgrade records. at first, >addiction< unspectacularly plods on towards house heaven, but then the sparse vocals and timeless organ sounds give you a warm and soft electro shock. the first track on the b side >the gull< shows off prompts talents as a composer. a very discreet melody blankets the straight beat, taking away the coldness of the bass. a beautiful dream track that should never really end. >mechanic< brings it home and is right in your face, a journey into minimal techno country, where you meet the sound ghosts that prompt has summoned. a single drum beat here, a voice there and a now and again a sound shred that are all meticulously arranged to make the perfect atmosphere.

newtonns history started in 1985. in a retrospective, his musical career looks like a frantic puzzle. there were influences of pop, rock and electronic sounds from the early seventies, so in fact, newtonns - better known by his alter ego cut a kaos - reputation and success could be traced back to all these music styles. since 2 years alexander friedlhuemer (so his registered name) has straighten and oriented his label bacteria records towards house and tech-house. the current and most important, new release >the cursor< is remixed by lars eckmann. catchy tech-house tunes with a flawor of real techno influences. as a result, 2010 is newtonns year and his spectacular productions will break all limits!

after two highly acclaimed releases, enclave recordings return with an outstanding debut ep from irish dj/producer conor rogan. cogan delivers an impressive well rounded package which stands head and shoulders above most of the generic house music thats been flooding the scene these days. the title track >78<, is an infectious, hypnotic number with its roots firmly grounded in the golden era of funk and soul. expect mayhem at the disco when the groove kicks in towards the end where the slapped bass, chopped guitar, and flute take the track to another level.
next up is channels where rogan shows his deep techno influences by weaving layers of rhodes chords in and out of the mix. a low slung funky bassline and tight rhythm section, make this a top notch people mover guaranteed to electrify dancefloors from dublin to detroit.
soulville is a stripped down percussion driven house workout, while option completes the journey on a deep, moving tip perfect for early evening or late night selections. all in all, an essential tool for the versatile house dj.

starting the year off with this cracking deep ep by our new guys on dirt crew, the runners ! after their extremely succesfull first 12 inch in the beginning of last year which featured the stunning jay shepheard remix they are ready to deliver the next dose of classic house grooves that range from deep house to the more techy edges of electronic dance music. the four originals on this ep alone stand out and keep dirt crew recordings headed towards the future of true deepnes. but as we are real purveyors of soulfull rolling beats we had to add once more one of our favourite producers in the scene to do a remix, this time its our friend from barcelona soul minority who has gained great respect with his cool deep house records over the past years, especially his latest releases on pack up and dance were amongst our most played tracks last year. so here you have it! a great start and there is more coolnes to follow this year! stay tuned and stay deep!

in 2010 desolat continues its one year old x series with m.in: >sing and blow at the same time<. m.in is an young artist from frankfurt area developing his individual music taste by being open-minded towards other genres. his interpretation of house / tech-house is spiced up with jazz, soul and afrobeat elements in order to present a varied and sophisticated blend to his audience and led to numerous well received solo releases and remixes for radio slave and italoboyz amongst others. m.ins house and his versatile beat programming caught our attention a long time ago - and the title track here simply seemed to be tailor-made for loco dice and his sets. >sing and blow at the same time< was probably one of the best kept secrets since last summer and now it’s time to reveal it. this new desolat x will be the first in the series to be available as a digital file as well. its coloured vinyl, with artwork by florian pohl and mastering by enrico mercaldi, will remain a collectors item - great sounding and good looking.

in mos ferrys eyes mikael stavostrands no turning back(mfp024) release at the end of 2006 still marks a highlight of his minimal techno period - and this is not only because of big bullys unmistakable vocals. now, none other than daniel sanchez (mumbling yeah) takes up the subject once again and with his no turning back remix he picks up where the krause duo started tastefully back then. daniels 12 minutes remix relies totally on an energetic rolling groove and puts the vocals always precisely when others would think it cant get more driving. the second remix was made by mikael stavostrand himself and is a straight and spatial welldesigned dj tool. for his own re-interpretation big bully got reinforcement through the argentinean odnu and heads more towards dub techno. these are three very succeeded remixes, which awake the desire to listen one more time to the original (despite the title)

well known for her electrifying panoramabar sessions, representing her love for all things deep, sensual and musical about house music steffis talent has blossomed out of her relationship with the musically entwined cities of amsterdam and berlin.
her touching, classic-jack inspired productions continue to gracefully bubble towards the international surface with this 12 inch. her debut cut for the label, >24 hours<, featured on tama sumos >panoramabar 02< compilation set out her production intentions quite eloquently. >kill me< continues the warm, traveling night-time vibes and opens steffis signature sound up into a full vocal-led celebration of house.
besides steffis killer chicago inspired throb and moody melodic structure, >kill me< features the sultry vocal talents of close friend elif bicer, also recording partner of label mates prosumer and murat tepeli. elifs tender and instinctive story of a love lost and found flows honestly and creatively throughout the vocal version. an instrumental dub is also included for the creative use of the dj.
steffi also shows off her skills with the >crushed soul< mix, allowing her intuitive, sentimental yet dancefloor tuned chord progressions to flow stronger. baassline led and focused on clean, precisely measured beats and synth lines to tell the story, this alternative version goes even further to suggest what treats are yet to come from this talented producer.

easy house grooves and deep, chord-driven techno – two versions of electronic music paulo olarte is particularly interested in as he has proven with his records on diynamic or his own imprint fresh fish. for his first 12 inch on frankfurts new entry, polytone, former hamburg-resident olarte gives full scope to his perferences. >vayas donde vayas< comes with a wonderfully housey feeling and a rich fund of harmonies, whereas >sweet sugar< plays the role of the techno bouncer for the tradition-conscious and discerning dancefloor with its deep detroit flavour. in his remix of >vayas donde vayas<, antonelli concentrates on the lightness of the or iginal and moves towards a maximum of funkyness with a mulitude of thrilling details. drei farben house rounds off the remix flip side with one of his long suspense arrangements he has come to be known for, which sends us to house heaven when the fine chords eventually fully unfold. polytone remains one of the most interesting, diverse newcomers of recent times.

the second half of the great lengths remixes package offers 3 more vividly contrasting interpretations of album tracks. almost a year on from the release of his debut album >one< and with >saviour of techno< plaudits still bouncing off concrete walls, berghain lynchpin ben klock turns in a remix of is this insanity that distills everything inspirational about both the club and city he calls home. spaceapes cracked vocal is welded to a sort of cavernous piston driven groove while traces of the originals melody fractured into the briefest of shards fight their way to the surface only to sink back into the percussive smog. located well outside of the heavily scrutinised uk hype centres, manchesters rising star illum sphere continues to hone his already distinct sound on the flipsides brilliant orange reworking. a clanking off kilter groove rubs up against an extended mutation of the original melody that pushes the track towards a poignant climax, evoking all the ache of reaching for the stars and landing squarely on ones face.

plastic rules is steadily moving towards the future with high quality minimal techno releases. 004 was a firm step in the right direct featuring the amazing >someone else<.
now its time for martin woerner (paso music, inclusion) and he delivers another beautiful piece of vinyl for the djs out there. this upcoming is hot and the highlight so far is his track featuring on the cocoon mix cd by dubfire and locodice.
on the flip we have a piemont (my best friend) remix. these guys are hot with remixes already under there belt for trapez, kontor, ministry of sound and many many more..

the yore captain returns to his own yore imprint on the labels 21st release. shadow city presents different visions of funky house grooves. the a sides the y theme gets deeply moving with a funky house pulse before stoking the fire with the addition of speaking voices (trippingly intoning the q&a what are we doing this for? and the music), a move which single-handedly jumpstarts the track. after the voices appear, the grooves intensity escalates and plunges deeper, its gyroscopic house swing becoming more dizzying and torrential with each passing bar before coming to an acidy storming end. in its opening moments, shadow city opts for a deeper and more serenading vibe by comparison, but thats traded in for a slinkier attack at the three-minute mark that grows progressively more ferocious as the track makes its drastic upwards ascent. a trippin dangerous murder weapon to say the least. watch your heads! the b sides b2 track, mumbai dweller keeps the focus primarily on the bottom end, specifically a strutting tribal-house funk groove thats dragged even deeper by a throbbing bass undertow, adding dark chords to it, giving this ep a darker feeling towards the end. to sum it all up: this is raw house music at its best!

here comes a highgrade split ep. marcus homm and ludwig coenen share the honours on one record, and instead of competing for the glory, both producers compliment each other perfectly. markus homm, the global player, starts off as assured as ever with another great track. golden glow rolls towards a dramatic stage for hysteria. homm takes the listener in with a heavy and richly sweet narrative style. matches brings even more excitement, pushing forward with brilliantly entangled sounds that hit you more in the hips than the stomach, telling a tale of promise in the early morning hours. ludwig coenen, the man from infamous frankfurt, brings dancing into the realms of the zoo! with its not a zoo he manages to combine various sounds into a funky and functional harmony. the 2nd track mind your head breaks the standard mould and uses a broad sound palette to construct a new and unique field of maximum funk.

3rd release on steckdose is made by marco remus, who teams up with luc byltiauw aka q-ic for these 2 grooving techno cuts with a little nod towards (tech)house.

after the critical and commercial success of art8, the resurgence of the legendary art label continues apace with the first release in a newly formed dance division series. signifying a shift towards more peak-time club material, the dance division series kicks off with the >swarm< ep. consisting of three tracks from label-owner kirk degiorgio. >swarm<, >a way of life< and >distant realm< cover the full-range of classic club-techno sonics, with a modern production edge that guarantees an extra punch on the dancefloor.

the waiting is finally over! after all the ups and downs of the past year, we can happily report that joshua eustis now firmly intends to continue telefon tel aviv as a solo project. in order to mark his decision with a bang, thewonderful title track >immolate yourself< is being released as the second single from the current lp. the song has been entrusted to highly acclaimed and diverse remix artists who have skilfully stripped down the epic album track to more club-friendly formats.
the a side is delivered by label-mate thomas muller, whose finely detailed techno soundscapes can now be enjoyed on five bpc 12 inch releases. his >immolate< remix takes a much more direct approach. he reduces the lush arrangement of the original to a powerful basic framework, leaves out the vocals almost entirely, and creates a surprise when the track crumbles into sonic chaos towards the end.
miss fitz aka maayan nidam has had singles released on labels including raum musik and freak n chic, and these have been remixed by renowned artists such as ricardo villalobos. her version of >immolate< also makes a clear break from the album track and serves up her very own brand of abstract, dancefloor-friendly house. once again, all the opulence of the original is thrown overboard, a dry beat is placed at the centre of the arrangement and enriched with sinuous vocals.
ben klock needs no further introduction - he is the epitome of the bleak, hard minimal sound. his album >one< is currently available on ostgut ton, and as a remixer he has earned the highest acclaim for his version of depeche modes >peace<. bens >jack mix< is fittingly titled and lives up to all the expectations of the name. the track is stripped back to a resounding, hammer-like beat framework - minimised for maximum effect.
bpitch legend sascha funke delivers a surprise with another astoundingly reduced remix, at least by his standards. he turns away from the melodic richness of his current album >mango< in favour of repetitive fragments and an extended arc of tension which will surely make his >immolate< remix a massive after-hour hit.

this is the second release by antonelli for dreck after his boogie ep in 2007. in classic antonelli working method the material here is made without a cpu, just with hardware. this gives the tracks a warm feel and a sense of an older mode of production, but nevertheless the two tracks are fully rooted in the now! stefan schwander starts out with the idea of the bassline as a genre-defining element in music. he then works from this central idea towards an euphoric and a reductive version, resulting in the two tracks here at hand, >disconnected< on the a side, and >operatore< on the b side. they both feature a beautifully analogue disco (if not moroder) bassline, build up continuously without ever meandering or loosing direction - very straight and pushing the dancefloor forward with >operatore< being the more bouncy and carefree track of the two.

here at the exprezoo headquarters we like to keep looking forward and to search for new and undiscovered talents, but we also like to go back to the sounds of our roots and, its not a secret, we are in love with neapolitan techno. blend these ingredients, stir for a while, and voila the fourth release on our catalog, by rio padice. actually, the kid isnt really a new one, since he s already had releases on welt,mosaiko, metroline limited and exprezoo digital besides being half of the new and hyped horacio project along with massi dl, but hes part of the new generation of neapolitan producers who keep going down the path started by marco carola and danilo vigorito. the a-side, don dragone, has a techno mood that we didnt feel for some time and that takes us back to when hardgroove was leading the dancefloors, updating and actualizing its sounds, while on the b-side elm street is made to satisfy the classiest tastes, taking the atmosphere towards a good-for-every-purpose dub techno. the last track on the ep, leviatano, keeps up the feeling we fell in love with on question and zenit, with funky percussions and sunny, warm synths.

from the studio of scott grooves... modified suede... music that you can feel. great selection of basic house tracks in the vein of his recent scott grooves release on clone (coco brown). this is a special tribute to clean simple rhythm tracks and scott grooves shows that being one of the first techno musicians on the planet doesnt have to mean that the passion for pure dance music has to disappear after so many years in the music bizz. excellent collection of tracks that lean towards classic house music, but with that fresh simple approach of many of the new school house producers! very much recommended!

saved records continues their busy release schedule towards the close of 2009 with one of their strongest packages to date, a release from marc ashken and matt tolfrey. between them, the duo have released tracks on respected labels such as cocoon, perc trax, crosstown rebels, viva, and matts label leftroom. for their saved release, the duo present >babygirl<, an amazing deep house track, which is layered with deep twisted vocals and is sure to destroy the dance floors over the christmas clubbing period and right into 2010.
alongside the original on the a-side is a remix from none other than legend derrick carter. known for being one of the best underground house djs and producers on the planet, derricks incredible remix keeps the deep, grooving feel that the original possesses and includes the vocals which he has edited to great effect. alongside his sharp use of hi-hats to keep the track flowing, the track drops into and back out of the bass line to create a great end product.
on the flipside, the second remix comes from amsterdam based artist, daniel sanchez. the bla bla label owner delivers an amazing take on the track, presenting a much more stripped down and ambient result, perfect for warming the night up with.
the >babygirl< package is a must for all deep house djs.

the viennese djs and producers smacs & patrick kong transformed their studio into a grow room. >no more experiments!< says smacs, when being interrogated about specific preparations for gigs outside of the austrian capital. their critics say: >on the long run the move towards self catering and regional consumer awareness will lower the production output of s&p<. the critics are full of shit though, because the opposite is happening. the recording booths new dedication >gives (you) wings< as a globally known austrian marketing slogan states. >growers< simply became their new single theme. of course dirt crew is around handling business when things get dirty in the techno scene. but instead of cleaning up, the two berliners mash the dope up with their favorite flavors and create special blend of its own, which will probably make it into this years finals of the legendary grand cup. indoor or outdoor, this tune will work!

> rollerskate< could be the most infectious song your going to hear this year. its far too easy to immediately get drawn in with the organic earthiness of aguayos musicianship. things get mixed up when diegors & the don move towards a more traditional cumbia tuned version and sanfuentes & alex thunders come up with a demented disco bass wobble. last but not least mexicos dark dancer rebolledo brings his signature beat(down) together with matiass mantra to new levels

we all know gunnar from countless kick ass parties in berlin. he has always been a reliable force as a dj, especially when playing together with fabiano. now he’s taken a turn at the tech house crossings towards upon you and had the right tracks on board to impress our head of a&r, marco resmann. he not only demonstrates his talents as a clever wordsmith but also his great musical taste with >cubicle< and >open you<, proving that everything that has been said about him is true.

peter kruder returns to the gigolo mega-church to present two new tracks from his recent arsenal of techno and house dance-floor bombs. needless to say 2009 has been a good year for gigolo and hell with the high times being shared by peter kruder. beginning back in march when we released peter kruders first 12 inch in 7 years as part of the cd eleven release. followed swiftly by the release of dj hells acclaimed >teufelswerk< album, recorded and produced largely in peter kruders vienna based studio. so as we approach the end of 2009 it gives us great pleasure to announce the latest ep >hard to find<.
on the a-side you find the title track, which takes in influences from detroit techno circa the age of ur to north african hooks. the filter sweep towards the end, which serves as the drop/break, is a master-class in restrained modulation that is bound to ignite any dance floor. on the b-side we find >25 west 38th st.< a slightly more reserved affair opening with the sound of the ocean air, then swiftly diving into a bass driven groove, which features lush strings and a piano-led top line creating a track that is as atmospheric as it is rhythmic. the ep itself takes influence from the b-side on two levels, the most immediate being the title of the track, which is the address of the old nu groove records offices. this is peter kruders homage to a time when dance music served as a momentary escape, an opportunity to make those around happy. it also brings peters relationship with gigolo records full circle, having begun in 2004 with his >nu groove< remix of hells >listen to the hiss<.
